DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \n  \n  \nDon’t sit in traffic when you can pedal past the crowds on an escorted route and park at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Join us at the AMP at 16 Tech on Sunday\, May 28th and Bike to the 500! \nWe’ll begin the last Porch Party in May on the near northwest side. Food purveyors in the AMP will have delicious food to provide enough sustenance to get you through the six mile ride to the track. The following vendors will be open: Yamallama\, Tortilla\, Healthy Soul\, Beast\, Tinker and Scoopz. \nCheck in will begin at 7:30 and the ride will depart for the IMS at 9:30. Ride with several hundred others to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where your bicycle will be parked and monitored while you enjoy the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. You will not need to lock your bicycle. \nYou will park your bike near Gate One at the Racing Capital of the World. This is as close as it gets to all of Race Day’s most exciting action. \nTickets are $20.00 in advance and $25 the day of the event. Children 15 and under ride for free with a paid adult. Race Day ticket sales end at 9:00.* \nBike parking becomes unattended at 4:30pm. Please plan to collect your bike by then. This event does not include a ticket to the Indianapolis 500 race. You’ll have to purchase that on your own. Be sure you have a race ticket before registering for the ride. \n*The ticket price ensures a safe ride to the event\, secure bike parking all day and supports Bike Indianapolis in its mission to make more bike riders in central Indiana. Return trips from the IMS are not supported\, but groups will depart during the first 30 minutes after the race ends.

This will instruct attendees on how to operate the ShopBot PRS Alpha CNC router table at Machyne. Students will learn the capabilities\, operation\, and safety protocols for the ShopBot. After attending the class users will know how to power the machine; move the tooling in X\, Y\, and Z; fasten materials to the bed; insert bits; set the origin & Z-Height; and how to safely run jobs on the machine. \nNote: Machyne’s ShopBot PRS Alpha cut-size is 5’x10′ with 13″ Z-height from the bed to the collet\, and is outfitted with a variable speed spindle. \n

SUMMARY:CNC Plasma Cutting Training
DESCRIPTION:In this class\, you will have the opportunity to create your own custom sign-up to 12″ x 24″ out of 16-Gauge mild steel. Additionally\, you’ll become certified in the use of the STV CNC Plasma cutter at Machyne Makerspacee. \nThe table is 48”x96”\, and the torch is a Hypertherm65\, which allows the cutting of up to ½” thick steel. You will learn how to take a 2D vector design and convert it to the CAM file necessary for the plasma table. The different types of lead-in/lead-out cut paths will be discussed\, as well as the difference in kerf (thickness of your cutting lines) based on material thickness\, amperage\, and plasma cutter tips. Different design techniques specific to CNC plasma cutting will be discussed\, such as stenciling 2D designs\, or taking 3D designs and converting them into 2D patterns which can then be plasma cut in 2D and then folded on a brake or with hand tools into a 3D shape. The Hypertherm65 can cut mild steel\, stainless steel\, and aluminum. \n

DESCRIPTION:In this class\, you’ll have the choice of creating a custom bottle opener\, a small sign (up to 4″ x 6″)\, or custom earrings! We have a variety of premade vectors to choose from & to customize\, however\, students are able to bring their own vector files. \nAdditionally\, students will be certified on the use of the CNC Waterjet Cutter at Machyne. You’ll learn how to design for the waterjet cutter\, what its specs are\, how to fixture ceramic\, metal\, and other materials to the bed\, and how to cut your designs. This class is intended for beginners\, but advanced users will learn some tips and tricks too. \n
