DESCRIPTION:In this class you will learn how to use the STV CNC Plasma Cutter. The table is 48”x96”\, and the torch is a Hypertherm65\, which allows the cutting of up to ½” thick steel. You will learn how to take a 2D vector design and convert it to the CAM file necessary for the plasma table. The different types of lead-in/lead-out cut paths will be discussed\, as well as the difference in kerf (thickness of your cutting lines) based on material thickness\, amperage\, and plasma cutter tips. Different design techniques specific to CNC plasma cutting will be discussed\, such as stencilizing 2D designs\, or taking 3D designs and converting them into 2D patterns which can then be plasma cut in 2D and then folded on a brake or with hand-tools into a 3D shape. The Hypertherm65can cut mild steel\, stainless steel\, and aluminum.

DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n \n  \nYouth can use this time to plan a project\, start on a new project\, continue working on a project\, as well as using this time to learn new skills or further refine skills. \nWe have access to: 3-D printers\, a laser cutter\, drill press\, bandsaw\, miter saw\, various handtools\, and chromebooks. \n*Because the physical space is limited to 10 spots for youth\, preference is given to currently enrolled 4-H students and those who live within the immediate service area of 16 Tech.

DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nIn this class\, you’ll have the choice of creating a custom bottle opener\, a small sign (up to 4″ x 6″)\, or custom earrings! We have a variety of premade vectors to choose from & to customize\, however\, students are able to bring their own vector files. \nAdditionally\, students will be certified on the use of the CNC Waterjet Cutter at Machyne. You’ll learn how to design for the waterjet cutter\, what its specs are\, how to fixture ceramic\, metal\, and other materials to the bed\, and how to cut your designs. This class is intended for beginners\, but advanced users will learn some tips and tricks too. \n
