The table is 48”x96”\, and the torch is a Hypertherm65\, which allows the cutting of up to ½” thick steel. You will learn how to take a 2D vector design and convert it to the CAM file necessary for the plasma table. The different types of lead-in/lead-out cut paths will be discussed\, as well as the difference in kerf (thickness of your cutting lines) based on material thickness\, amperage\, and plasma cutter tips. Different design techniques specific to CNC plasma cutting will be discussed\, such as stencilizing 2D designs\, or taking 3D designs and converting them into 2D patterns which can then be plasma cut in 2D and then folded on a brake or with hand-tools into a 3D shape. The Hypertherm65can cut mild steel\, stainless steel\, and aluminum.
